Russia<\/a> unleased a wave of missile and drone attacks on Kyiv overnight just hours after a call between Vladimir Putin<\/a> and Donald Trump<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Twenty three people were injured and several buildings damaged in the assault.<\/p>\n

Russia said it launched a total of 550 drones and missiles across Ukraine<\/a> throughout the night, in its biggest aerial bombardment since the war <\/a>began.<\/p>\n

The sound of buzzing drones, explosions and intense machine gun fire could be heard for hours in Kyiv, as Ukrainian forces tried to intercept the attack, according to Associated Press journalists in the city. <\/p>\n

According to Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko, 14 people were hospitalised. <\/p>\n

Ukrainian air defenses shot down 270 targets, including two cruise missiles. Another 208 targets were lost from radar and presumed jammed.<\/p>\n

Russia successfully hit eight locations with nine missiles and 63 drones. Debris from intercepted drones fell across at least 33 sites.<\/p>\n

The attack came hours after US president Trump held a call with Russian leader Putin and made his first public comments on his government’s decision to pause some shipments of weapons to Ukraine.<\/p>\n

In Solomianskyi district, a five-story residential building was partially destroyed and the roof of a seven-story building caught fire. Fires also broke out at a warehouse, a garage complex and an auto repair facility.<\/p>\n<p>In Sviatoshynskyi district, a strike hit a 14-story residential building, sparking a fire. Several vehicles also caught fire nearby.
